When we dig
Digs run every Thursday and Saturday, without exception. The pattern has held for more than a decade, and it is what allows us to offer members a reliable rhythm of days out in the field.
How a typical day looks
Arrival is from 8am with the dig fee collected at the gate. Parking, preparation and socialising up until 9am. Everybody starts digging at the same time to ensure fair play. Members then work the field at their own pace, stop for lunch when they please, and pause often to share what they've found. The digs finish at 4pm in winter and 5pm during summer time.
Where we dig
Digs rotate across our permissions in Hampshire, Wiltshire, Sussex and Surrey, pasture, stubble, seeded and ploughed fields, depending on the season and the landowner's wishes.
Joining a dig
The Club is run through a members-only Facebook group and a distribution list. To be added to the list, or to arrange a first visit as a guest, please email admin@midweeksearchers.co.uk. We will then confirm the precise location, parking and any ground rules on the day of the dig.
